After 8 Months of planning the Cloud Identity Summit 2022 is over and I can say it was really a pleasure to help to organize this great Community event from my perspective. Four years ago Thomas Naunheim come up with the Idea to create a event focus on Identity for the Community. We discuss this in our Azure Bonn Orga Team and finally the Cloud Identity Summit was born. At the end of 2019 we plan the first edition for 2020 as a in-person event, but things changed and we changed the format to an virtual event and this also for 2021.
Back in february we start planning for the 3rd edition 2022 and we decided to go back to our original idea to hold it as a in-person event, but with the experience of two virtual events we move it to an hybrid event. Yesterday was our 1st Cloud Identity Summit 2022 as hybrid edition and I can say, I was really exited about it. Why?
Summer is here and I hope many enjoy the time on vacation. In this article I would like to give a little preview on which community events you can find me in the 2nd half of 2021.
GeekSprech Podcast
I had the pleasure of visiting Eric Berg and Weimar on the 3rd weekend in July. We had a great time and talked a lot about the community, new projects and more. On Sunday, Eric and I had the idea to record a new GeekSpeak episode with the news about the Microsoft Inspire 2021. We had a lot of fun recording it and hope you do too. The podcast is in German.
German AVD UserGroup – Azure Files
Patrick Köhler and Marcel Meurer are the founder of the German Azure Virtual Desktop User Group. The host a monthly meetup with different topics around AVD. Both invited me to speak about Azure Files and is this the perfect profile store solution. I am really looking forward to the event and hope that I can give you a good overview about the different file store solutions in Azure.
Cloud Identity Summit 2021
In 2020 based on the initial idea of my best buddy Thomas Naunheim we started as Azure Bonn Team the Cloud Identity Summit 2020. The speaker lineup was awesome and the feedback was so great that we decided to repeat this in 2021. This year the Cloud Identity Summit will another virtual conference and take place at 30/09/2021. We hope you attend our 2nd edition. The agenda and the speaker will announce in August 2021.

AVD TechFest Fall 2021
I am very happy to speak for a 2nd time at the well organized AVD Techfest. This a free online conference with all topics related to Azure Virtual Desktop. There are so many sessions on the agenda, it’s worth taking a look if you work in the AVD space. I’ll be giving a session on Azure Files as an AVD profile storage solution, and diving into the different ways you can use the Azure Files solution for AVD. This means that I will introduce Azure Files and Azure NetApp Files and show in which scenarios some of these options are the better solution.
IT Tage Konferenz
One of the last conferences this year is the German IT Tage Konferenz in December. This is a really big conference running about 4 days with a wide range of topics. I had a pleasure to hold a session about Azure VM Best Practices.
I am pleased to have received an invitation to speak at the upcoming Scottish Summit 2021. The Scottish Summit was estabhlished in 2020. This year the conference is becoming an online-only conference and will be streamed on all social media channels. The conference itself is growing into a really big conference with many parallel tracks with different language. The main conference starts on Saturday 27/02/21 and there will be many sessions on Microsoft Cloud services (like Azure, M365 and so on).
Azure Governance is an important topic for any customer using cloud resources. In my session, I will show the power of Azure Policy and Azure Security Center to define guardrails for your Azure environment and bring it into a compliant and secure state. I will go live with my session at Saturday 27/02/21 starting 1PM. If you are interested in how Azure Policy and Azure Security Center work together and how these services are handled, please feel free to join my session and ask questions.
Last year my Community buddies Gregor Suttie and Richard Hooper has the great Idea to start the Azure Advent Calendar. A Advent Calender with 48 different Sessions to Azure related topics. I had the pleasure to held a session about Azure Bastion.
This year Gregor and Richard take this to a new level and create the Festive Calendar. An Adventcalendar with around 85 different sessions around the Microsoft 365 world.
The Calendar has started today with the yearly POM deliverd by Isidora Katanic (BTW: Greetings to the well deserved MVP award) and introduction from Amy Boyd and Adam Jackson.
This year I have the pleasure to hold a session again about Azure …… at the ….! Psst – I do not say when and which topic so it is a an Advent suprise. Take a look at the daily Festivecalendar website to see what amazing session surprises are behind the door 🙂

After a great week I sitting in the airplane back on my way to cologne. Yesterday was the first Azure Saturday in Berlin and I was invited to hold a session about Azure File Sync. It was a great session with lot´s of questions, ideas and discussion about the benefits from using Azure File Sync. So I often had to watch the clock so I stayed within the time 🙂
In den letzten Wochen kamen zahlreiche positive Nachrichten von verschiedenen Events, an denen ich als Sprecher teilnehmen darf und so etwas zur großartigen Community beitragen kann. Das hat mich riesig gefreut.
Noch mehr würde es mich freuen, den ein oder anderen dort zu sehen! 😊
Daher liste ich hier mal auf, auf welchen Veranstaltungen ihr mich im 2. Halbjahr 2018 findet werdet:
Wir befinden uns bereits seit einigen Tagen im Jahr 2018 und ich hoffe ihr seit alle gut reingekommen. Nachdem ich noch ein paar Urlaubstage genießen durfte, möchte ich noch ein kleinen Rückblick auf 2017 werfen.
Das 1. Azure Bonn Meetup fand am Dienstag statt und die Teilnehmer waren alle begeistert von den Räumlichkeiten und insbesondere von den beiden Speakern.
Mit ein wenig Verspätung ging es um 17:30 mit ein paar einführenden Worten von mir los. Dazu durften natürlich nicht die Infos zu GeekZeugs fehlen, was zu einem richtig tollen Format heranwächst.
Danach startete Daniel Neumann gleich in die Live Umgebung und verzichtete vollständig auf Folien und Präsentation. Live im OMS Portal führte er die Einrichtung, die Anbindung und die vielen Features vor. Viele nützliche Tipps und Tricks vermittelten den Teilnehmen einen guten Einblick und auch die Fallstricke wurden nicht verschwiegen. Eine tolle Einführung mit vielen technischen Infos und Details vermittelten viele Aspekte, um OMS bereits selbst einzusetzen.
Im Augenblick befinde ich mich im Zug sitzend im schönen Moseltal und Reise nach Saarbrücken, um am zweitägigen #Azure #Meetup #letstalkazure teilzunehmen. Organisiert wurde das ganze von Thomas Janetschek, der für diesen kostenlosen Workshop Patrick Heyde als Speaker gewinnen konnte. Das ganze findet in den Räumlichkeiten der DateOne GmbH statt. Während das Event in diesen Minuten beginnt, darf ich noch entspannt im Zug sitzen und die vorbeiziehenden, malerischen Schluchten bestaunen und das bei strahlend blauem, wolkenfreiem, Himmel. Bin bereits gespannt auf den Workshop und werde den Beitrag um meine Eindrücke und Erfahrungen ergänzen. Zuvor werde ich bei den vorbeiziehenden Landschaften noch an meine Reise nach Mittelerde denken 😉
Am 20.04.16 fand die erste Tagesveranstaltung der Organisatoren der Virtualization Conference NRW (VCNRW) als VCNRW-Sessions in der Microsoft Niederlassung Köln statt. Die VCNRW wurde Ende 2014 von Helge Klein & Timm Brochhaus ins Leben gerufen, um in netter Runde unter gleichgesinnten Erfahrungen auszutauschen und über aktuelle Entwicklungen zu diskutieren. Nachdem die beiden 5 erfolgreiche Treffen organisiert hatten, sollte eine Tagesveranstaltung die nächste Herausforderung sein und soviel sei verraten, diese wurde mit Bravour gemeistert.
Helge Klein & Timm Brochhaus eröffnen VCNRW Sessions
Im Microsoft Office in Köln fand nun die 1. VCNRW-Sessions mit Platz für 80 Teilnehmer statt . Der Run auf die kostenfreien Tickets war zu Beginn so groß das die Veranstaltung innerhalb weniger Tage ausgebucht war.
Während in den Sessions sehr viel Wissen durch die Referenten vermittelt wurde, gab es in den Pausen genügend Zeit zum Netzwerken und über die Themen zu diskutieren.

So konnte ich einige bekannte Gesichter wiedersehen und zahlreiche neue kennenlernen und in den Sessions habe ich noch einiges an Wissen mitnehmen dürfen. Daher ein großes Danke an die beiden und die Sponsoren, die die Veranstaltung ermöglicht haben.
Insgesamt eine absolut gelungene Veranstaltung und ein toller Auftakt, darin waren sich Teilnehmer und Referenten einig. Helge und Timm haben hier eine tolle Konferenz auf die Beine gestellt und sicherlich den Startschuß für weitere VCNRW-Sessions gelegt.
